The Dangers of the Roadway

Most of the time Hannah rides Meadow on the grassy shoulder of the road.  Olive knows to run there as well - she's so smart.  The weight and setup of the instrument-laden bicycle means that Harvey cannot always ride off of the road.

There is probably less than 2 miles per day (of a 15 mile daily average) that the bike is riding in the roadway proper with other vehicles.  Still, cars and trucks move very very fast and it only takes one person not paying attention to make things really dangerous, especially with heavy weather like rain or fog.

To all who drive, we ask that you remember: bikes and horses are legal vehicles in the eyes of the law.  Please follow the law; share the road by pulling over, slowing down and passing with care just like you would a slow car.  Stay alert and save our lives; we can't thank you enough.
