New Orleans Museum Day

Woke up after a good night's rest at N's house.  We found Meadow had munched a beautiful semicircle in the large field next door where she was tied.  Pony getting lots of good grass nowadays.  We updated the blog for a few hours.  With the help of this device hopefully that will be the last 3-week summary post we have to construct... Daily posts from now on, folks.

Guess who is still in town? Bixby!  Gonna catch up with her and M tomorrow maybe.

The art museum is free on Wednesdays so we decided we should go.  Leaving "the kids" at the house, the human component of FCF walked the mile to the museum on our own two feet, gearless for the first time in a while.  It was nice.  We saw beautiful, old paintings and also lots of new edgy stuff that really made us think.

The 'log cabin' built from common items like cell phones, spark plugs, gas tank caps, even bullets and chains, all painted solid gold top to bottom, was one of our favorites.  We took a few pictures... not sure how legal that was... and lazed on the park lawn afterwords.  That stomach bug hasn't completely left us alone yet; annoying.

Said hey to L and K, the camera guys we met yesterday.  It really is a big small town; a huge percentage of the population rides bikes everywhere which could contribute to that feeling.  We passed a softball game on the way home and Harvey couldn't resist watching a bit.

We noticed some neat restaurants on our walk back, too, so we snagged our instruments and returned to see if we could serenade their patrons.  They loved us, made us a pizza in thanks and we made great tips too.  Back to the house.  Olive and Meadow both glad of our return.  Hannah's headache persists which is too bad.  Bedtime.

Olive and new friends Gary, Country, Pony - the dogs that live here - tussle and scrap like old friends.
Meadow raced two bicycle-riding boys on a little backstreet. Took her three tries to win, but once she caught on, she really kicked it up in full gear.

  1. This might have also been the day that Meadow stole a beer from an unsuspecting Kansas City tourist on Frenchmen Street! Nice to meet ya'll, good luck on your travels, and thank you for giving me such a memorable vacation story! -Maggie
