Back in Chilly Gentilly

We were invited back to Nonna Mia's Italian restaurant to play for the patio patrons.  We said goodbye to Bixby, and the guys down in Bywater... Really we're just skipping around town as we hear about cool things in different places.

Unfortunately Nonna Mia's was nearly empty.  We didn't make a lot but we made a really amazing contact...

Toward closing time, at the only occupied table, sat a couple who has toured Canada, the US and parts of Europe, heading their own horse drawn theater troupe.  Multiple wagons, 10 to 20 performers, up to 18 horses (there's a documentary), and as if that weren't enough reason for FCF to like these folks... for the last 6 years P&N have sailed their custom-made 85 foot theater sailing ship around the world.  (No need for us to ask why but...) "How, who, where, what, when...?" We were instantly transformed from the center-of-attention horse travelers to the awestruck questioning audience.

The following morning, we visited their ship, docked in a marina in the industrial canal.  We felt so inspired after hanging out with the crew for just an hour or two; perhaps we'll never grow out of our troubadour phase...  Good luck to the Caravan Stage Company on their seafaring voyage.

Most of this week we've stayed at the house of B&C who we met at Tuesday dinner two weeks ago.  B&C are yet another super chilly Gentilly couple with a fenced in yard, food for all and good humor even when the neighbors call the SPCA on us.  Haha, as usual the various law enforcement simply want to make sure we're being safe, but its never been a problem to do what we're doing.

Hip hip hooray for NOLA.  B&C also have six lovely dogs of their own from the 10 pound Georgia May to the 110+ pound Pearl.  (Yep, people get initials, dogs get full names)

In closing, guess who just received her lightweight saddle in the mail?  More on that in the next post.

Olive is crashed out on the floor, the 7th member of an all dog pack that she has grown to love.
Meadow has had a suitor this week... Sam, the huge German Shepherd, is absolutely infatuated with her.

  1. Hey H&H, Olive and Meadow, you've only been gone a few hours and there is a little empty space in my heart and a hint of a tear in my eye. I miss all of you already. Farewell my friends and Godspeed.
